There are usually multiple addictions, not just to the nicotine but to the different ways you experience smoking - the feel of the cigarette in your fingers, the sounds the cigarette makes when being lit and when you take a draw from it. The many aspects of smoking that you become so used to are also addictions that you need to overcome.

Don’t be a couch potato, get moving and stay busy so you don’t think about needing to smoke. Keep your body and mind moving. The first few days are the roughest. It might be best to quit on a Friday evening so you have all weekend to use for the roughest part of the process.
